This month, we are reading Making Good Choices by Steffi Cavell-Clarke. Through this book, students explore how values shape their decisions and learn that making responsible choices means doing what is right—not only for themselves but also for others around them. The story emphasizes respect, empathy, and the importance of being accountable for our actions.

This book teaches children that responsible decision-making means acting with respect—for others and themselves—and understanding the consequences of their choices.

Classroom Activities to Foster Responsibility

Teachers encourage students to take on small tasks, like helping organize classroom materials or participating in group activities. These tasks nurture teamwork, leadership, and accountability—qualities that reflect responsible behavior.  

Virtue Challenges and Self-Reflection

Students are challenged to reflect on their daily choices, asking themselves:  

– Am I completing my tasks on time?  

– How do my actions affect others around me?  

– How can I be more reliable and trustworthy?

Students who best embody responsibility throughout the month will receive special certificates, celebrating their effort and dedication.
