Registration

  1. Students entering kindergarten or Grade 1 or Grade 4 can register. Previous Chinese experience is not required, and parents do not need to know the language. 

  2. Students with previous Mandarin language experience may start the Mandarin Bilingual program at other grade levels. 

Book an appointment with the Vice principal of the school to determine a personalized plan for successful entry. 

Application for the 2022-2023 school year will be accepted at our school office before August 15, 2022.

Fees (2022-2023)

Application Fee: A non-refundable application fee must be submitted with each application: $200 

Tuition Fee: $16,000 for September 2022

Student Services Fee: $800

School Bus Fee/Roundtrip: $800

School Uniform:
Uniforms are mandatory for all students. Uniforms are ordered from and paid directly to our provider, Cambridge Uniforms. $400 – $500 approx. As necessary

Medical Insurance:
BC MSP: Starting from Jan. 1, 2020, the mandatory BC MSP coverage fee for all international students will be $75 per month.Private Insurance: In addition to MSP, all international students must provide proof of Private Medical Insurance that is valid for the duration of the academic school year. The approximate cost for the insurance is $44 per month.

Refund Policy

All Students

All refund requests must be made in writing along with the submission of supplementary documents.

Refunds are processed under the name of the student`s parent unless an alternate request is submitted by the parent in writing.

No refund is granted if parents fail to disclose medical needs, special learning needs or behavioral considerations.

In the event that a student is required to discontinue studies due to expulsion, the student is not eligible for a refund of any amount paid to HongDe Elementary for the school year in which they were expelled. Further, a student isn’t eligible for a partial refund to cover an interruption to their studies due to disciplinary suspension of any kind, nor from an interruption of their studies arising from any other consequence assigned to the students as a result of their misbehaviour.

The cancellation of acceptance according to HongDe Elementary admission policy will result in the loss of any non-refundable deposit.

All fees paid are non-transferable.

All refunds which are requested by wire transfer are subject to an administrative fee of $100. Banks may charge additional transaction fees.

Approved refund requests are processed within 4-6 weeks.

International Students (Visa Refusal)
International students who have been issued an official Letter of Acceptance from HongDe Elementary are not eligible for a refund unless the student’s Study Permit application has been denied by Citizenship and Immigration Canada.

In the event of a Study Permit application denial, fees are fully refundable minus the administration fee of $300. To receive a refund, the following documents must be submitted:

Refusal letter issued by Citizenship and Immigration Canada. The date of the refusal letter must be subsequent to the issue date of the most recent Letter of Acceptance.

New Domestic Students

HongDe Elementary will retain 50% of the total tuition and activity fees if the student withdraws 30 or more calendar days prior to the first day of school year.

No refund is issued if the student withdraws 29 or fewer calendar days prior to the first day of school year.

Continuing Students (Domestic and International)

A non-refundable tuition deposit of $2,000 is required to guarantee a seat for an upcoming school year.

HongDe Elementary will retain 50% of the total tuition fee and activity fees less $2,000 deposit if the student withdraws 30 or more calendar days prior to the first day of school year.

No refund is issued if the student withdraws 29 or fewer calendar days prior to the first day of school year.

Registration Requirement

Non-Canadian Students

Non-Canadian students include Landed immigrants (Permanent Residents), Refugees, International fee-paying students.  Interpreters are available to assist at this appointment. 

Documents Required to Register

You will need to provide legal proof of your child’s name, date of birth, and citizenship status in Canada.  

English Language Assessment

If necessary, an English language assessment will be done to determine your child’s English skills. This assessment may take two hours to complete.

Step 3: Student Interview

Every applicant is required to schedule an informal family conversation with our Vice Principal and director of admissions. These appointments will take place on campus or over BlueJeans. This is an opportunity for students and parents to ask questions and learn more about HongDe curriculum and programs. 

Step 4: Acceptance

After acceptance, students will be contacted by our school counselor to build their “Pathway to Success” study plan.

How to Create Your Parent Account 

Setting up an account to pay student fees online is quick and easy, but there are a few things that must be confirmed before you register. If you are setting up a account you must: 

Be a legal guardian

Use the same email address the school has on file and

Have your child’s student ID number

Student records include information about a student while they attend the school. 

A student transcript is an official record of high school marks accepted by post-secondary institutions. This document is issued by BC Education.  

HongDe Elementary protects personal information from unauthorized access, collection, use, disclosure, copying, modification, or disposal or similar risks. Procedures for such protection are outlined below.
