Christmas Cards for Veterans
A Holiday Gesture of Gratitude
At HongDe Elementary, we believe in spreading kindness and recognizing the contributions of those who have served our country. Last month, our students took on a meaningful project—creating Christmas cards for veterans. A member of the HongDe staff personally delivered these cards to the Royal Canadian Legion 142 at the West Point Grey Branch.
Cards from the Heart: Practicing Virtues
HongDe students carefully crafted their messages, writing in English and Mandarin to make them accessible and heartfelt. They filled the cards with warm wishes, vibrant drawings, and personal notes to show veterans that the community remembers and values their service.
This project helped our students practice the virtues of gratitude and empathy – two core values we foster at HongDe. It also encouraged them to reflect on the importance of community, gratitude, and remembrance, especially during the holiday season.
Delivery to Royal Canadian Legion 142
Our team delivered the cards to the Royal Canadian Legion 142 at the West Point Grey Branch just in time for the holidays. This gesture brought joy and kindness to veterans who have given so much to our community and country.
Making a Difference, One Card at a Time
By creating Christmas cards for veterans, our students showed gratitude and recognized the importance of appreciating those who have made sacrifices for our well-being. We take pride in how our students embraced this opportunity to connect with veterans and spread holiday cheer.
At HongDe, we teach that every act of kindness matters—especially during the holidays. These cards represent just one of the ways we encourage our students to give back to the community.
Thank you to our students and everyone involved in making this initiative a success!
