It’s October 3rd, which means fall is officially in full swing. As we welcome the month of cozy sweaters, warm drinks, and the beauty of changing leaves, HongDe Elementary has a busy calendar packed with activities to keep students engaged and learning. From safety drills to celebrations, something is happening every week this month!

What’s on the Calendar?

Here’s a look at the events we have lined up for October:

🍁 Bus Evacuation Drill – October 2

Safety is always our top priority. On October 2nd, we kicked off the month with our Bus Evacuation Drill to ensure all students are prepared in case of emergencies. This drill allows students to practice safety procedures and learn how to evacuate the bus quickly and safely.

🍁 Celebrating World Teacher’s Day – October 4 and 5

At HongDe, we are incredibly grateful for our dedicated teachers. On Friday, October 4, we will be celebrating World Teacher’s Day, which officially takes place on Saturday, October 5. This is our chance to thank our educators for their hard work and commitment to shaping our students’ futures.

🍁Thanksgiving Day – October 14 (No School)

October brings us a well-deserved long weekend with Thanksgiving on Monday, October 14. While there will be no school on this day, we encourage everyone to reflect on what they are thankful for and enjoy the time with family and friends.

🍁 Earthquake Drill – October 16

On Wednesday, October 16, we will conduct an Earthquake Drill to ensure that all students and staff know how to stay safe during an earthquake. Practicing these drills helps everyone feel prepared and confident in a real emergency.

🍁Provincial Pro-D Day – October 25 (No School)

Friday, October 25, is Provincial Professional Development Day. There will be no classes. This day gives our teachers time to attend workshops, collaborate, and further develop their skills to continue providing top-notch education to our students.

🍁 Halloween Fun – October 31

🎃👻 Halloween is always a favorite among students and staff at HongDe! On Wednesday, October 31, we will celebrate with fun activities, costume parades, and spooky surprises. It’s a great way to end the month with joy and creativity, all while learning about this festive tradition.
