As the autumn leaves fall, we welcome a new month filled with exciting events and meaningful moments at HongDe Elementary. Let’s take a look at what is on the school calendar this November!
Key Dates to Remember
📅 November 3 – End of Daylight Saving Time
Most Canadians will set their clocks back one hour at 2:00 am, officially starting standard time. Don’t forget to enjoy the extra hour of rest!
📅 November 4 – Nutritionist Workshop
An engaging Nutritionist Workshop where students will learn about the benefits of healthy eating, balanced diets, and how good nutrition fuels their bodies and minds.
📅 November 6 – Lockdown Drill
Safety is always a priority at HongDe. This drill ensures students and staff are familiar with the lockdown procedures to keep everyone safe in emergencies.
📅 November 8 – Remembrance Day School Assembly
On November 8, we’ll gather for our Remembrance Day Assembly to honor the courage and sacrifices of those who served and continue to serve. A time for reflection and gratitude, we encourage everyone to join this meaningful event.
📅 November 11 – Remembrance Day (No School)
We encourage families to take part in local ceremonies to honor the sacrifices made by veterans and soldiers who served to protect our freedoms.
📅 November 20 – Fire Drill
We will practice fire safety procedures to make sure all students and staff know what to do in an emergency.
📅 November 20 – National Child Day
Our students will participate in activities celebrating the rights and well-being of children. It is a day to reflect on the importance of their voices and potential.
📅 November 21 – Canada Jay Math Contest
Some of our students will participate in the Canada Jay Math Contest on November 21, an exciting opportunity to challenge their math skills and have fun solving problems together!
📅 November 22 – Pro-D Day (No School)
Professional development day for our teachers, giving them time to learn and grow, ensuring they continue to provide the best education for our students.
📅 November 23 – Holodomor Memorial Day (observed on the 4th Saturday of November)
We will hold discussions and a moment of silence to honor the millions who perished during the Holodomor, a tragic event in Ukrainian history.
