Hello, February!
February, the second month of the year, is known for being the shortest month in the calendar, with just 28 days—except in leap years when it has 29! While it is winter in the Northern Hemisphere, February also marks the last month of summer in the Southern Hemisphere.

February School Events
🏮 February 12 – Lantern Festival
This festival marks the official end of the Lunar New Year celebrations! Students will learn about its cultural significance and participate in engaging activities. This is a traditional Chinese festival celebrated on the fifteenth day of the first month in the lunisolar Chinese calendar, during the full moon.
💖 February 14 – Valentine’s Day & District-Wide Pro-D Day
Show some love and kindness today! Students are welcome to bring cards to gift to their classmates on Thursday, February 13, to celebrate this day.
And enjoy your long weekend—no school on this day!
🏡 February 17 – Family Day
Family Day is not a national statutory holiday, it is only observed in New Brunswick, Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario, Saskatchewan, and British Columbia. This holiday is all about spending quality time with loved ones. Common Family Day activities include skating, playing hockey, snowboarding/skiing, and going to various winter festivals. But the best thing about Family Day must be beaver tails and stuffing ourselves silly with pancakes with maple syrup! Enjoy your day off with family and friends!

Join us in standing against bullying! Wear pink to promote kindness and inclusion in our school community. Let’s make a difference together!
